Council Structure

The Council structure is as follows –

A chairperson not from a profession to be regulated

- Tom Jordan

One member from each of the 12 professions to be regulated.

Note: In November 2011, 12 observers were nominated, and these professional representatives will achieve full membership status on amendment of the Act.  These are:

- John O Mullane (clinical biochemists)
- HalogMellet (dietitians)
- Marie Culliton (medical scientists)
- Odhrán Allen (occupational therapists)
- Tony McAleer (orthoptists)
- Emma Stokes (physiotherapists)
- Caroline McIntosh (podiatrists)
- Richard Booth (psychologists)
- Michele Monaghan (radiographers)
- David Power (social care workers)
- Monica Egan (social workers)
- Maeve Murphy (speech and language therapists)

 

One representative of the management of the public health sector, the public social care sector or both sectors.

- Jackie Reed

One representative of the management of a voluntary or private sector organisation concerned with health or social care.

- Pat Quinlan

One representative of third level educational establishments involved in the education and training of persons with respect to the practice of the designated professions and is nominated by the Minster for Education and Science.

- Ann Taylor

Six representatives of the interest of the general public and are appointed with the consent of the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
