Education Overview

You are here: Education » Overview

The Registration Boards of the Health and Social Care Professionals Council will approve education and training programmes if they are satisfied that they are suitable for the education and training of applicants for registration.

The education provider or institution must make an application for approval in accordance with any guidelines issued by the Registration Boards.  If approval is refused, the education provider or institution can appeal the decision to the Minister for Health & Children who will consult with the Minister for Education & Science.

Each education programme will be monitored for its continuing suitability and, at least once every 5 years, the Registration Board will require a full review of the programme. The Council is currently drafting guidelines for standards in education and training that will guide Registration Boards and education providers in the application process.
