Dietitians and Speech and Language Therapists Recognition of International Qualifications - Transfer of Competent Authority
The Dietitians and Speech and Language Registration Boards at CORU will establish their registers on 31 October 2014. As and from that date the relevant Boards will be designated as the competent authority for the profession under Directive 2005/36/EC and will assess all new applications for the recognition of professional qualifications awarded outside the Republic of Ireland.
The Minister for Health will continue to be the competent authority in relation to all applications received before 31 October 2014 until such time as a decision on each application has been made. Such applications are processed by the Validation Unit, Department of Health.
Applications for the recognition of Dietetics qualifications received prior to 31 October 2014 are processed by the Validation Unit, Department of Health. Such applications must be on the existing application form and should be addressed to:

Applications for the recognition of Speech and Language Therapy qualifications received prior to 31 October 2014 are processed by the National Validation Office, Health Service Executive on behalf of the Minister for Health. Such applications must be on the existing application form and should be addressed to:

Changes to application form
Please note that application forms received by CORU from 31 October 2014 must be on the CORU recognition application form. Old forms will not be accepted after this date.
Due to the time it may take for you to complete the application form and gather your supporting documentation it may be prudent to complete the CORU application form if you are commencing the recognition application process closer to the transfer date of 31 October 2014.

Existing holders of a letter of recognition / validation
If you have already had your professional qualification recognised by the previous competent authority and hold a letter of recognition / validation you do not need to apply for recognition at CORU.
