Garda Vetting FAQs

01) Will I have to be Garda Vetted?

Garda vetting is a requirement of registration.

02) What does Garda Vetting involve?

Each applicant completes a Garda Vetting application form as part of their registration application and returns it to CORU.  CORU forwards the application to the Garda Vetting Unit.

03) If I have already received Garda clearance can my employer or another body provide you with this information?

No, the Registration Board must conduct Garda vetting independently.  The Garda vetting information on individuals cannot be shared by organisations.

04) How long does Garda Vetting take?

Currently Garda Vetting can take up to 16 weeks.
