Holders of qualifications obtained outside the Rep. of Ireland

Persons seeking to work in the Rep. of Ireland for the first time, with training/qualifications obtained outside of the State that have not been recognised by the Competent Authority must complete a 2 stage process:

Step 1: Recognition process

Applicants in this category must apply to have their qualifications recognised by the competent authority before proceeding to apply for registration. See international qualifications for recognition of qualifications.

Step 2: Registration process

When an applicant’s qualification has been recognised you must apply for registration before commencing practice in Ireland. The registation application process includes the following steps:

1. Complete the application form

2. Enclose proofs and support documents

3. Pay the fee
