The Register
Under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005, CORU will open and maintain a register for each of the 12 designated professions to include clinical biochemists, dietitians, medical scientists, occupational therapists, orthoptists, podiatrists, physiotherapists, psychologists, radiographers, social care workers and speech and language therapists.
These registers will contain information on the registered members of the designated professions. When fully operational, any member of the public will be able to check who is on the register online.
Registers for each of the professions will open on a phased basis over the next number of years once a Registration Board for each profession has been appointed by the Minister for Health. When a Registration Board is appointed they will work towards the opening of statutory register for that profession.
