Dr Maurice Fenton is a social care professional who has worked at all levels in the residential child care sector, from trainee to managing director, over a 27-year period. He is involved in a wide portfolio of activities within the social care sector and he has published extensively both nationally and internationally.
Maurice holds a doctorate in Childhood Studies (DChild), which was awarded by Queen’s University, Belfast. His thesis, conducted under the supervision of Professor John Pinkerton, was on professional culture of aftercare workers which encompassed the fields of residential care and the broader social care sector in Ireland. He also holds an MA in Youth and Community Studies awarded by Brunel University, London with a thesis focused on professional culture within the aftercare field. He also holds a National Diploma in Social Care awarded by National University of Ireland Galway.
