Letter of Recognition / Accreditation
This is confirmation that a qualification obtained outside of the Republic of Ireland has been recognised by the Registration Board for the profession or other designated Competent Authority in the Republic of Ireland in accordance with Directive 2005/36/EC.
Qualifications obtained outside the Republic of Ireland prior to the opening of a Register will normally have been recognised (validated) by the previous Competent Authority in accordance with a European Directive for the Mutual Recognition of Qualifications (2005/36/EC). In most cases, this will have been the Department of Health. A Registration Board may accept a letter of recognition/accreditation granted under the provisions of Directive 2005/36/EC as an alternative to an approved qualification.
