CORU approves Master of Arts in Social Work at Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest
CORU has approved the Master of Arts in Social Work at Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS). The Social Workers Registration Board granted approval on 25 June 2025.
Graduates of this programme are now eligible to apply directly for registration with CORU, the regulatory body for social workers in Ireland. CORU approval confirms that the programme and its graduates meet all criteria and standards of proficiency set by the Social Workers Registration Board.
The TUS programme joins eight other CORU-approved Masters in Social Work across the country, offered by:
Atlantic Technological University
University College Cork (UCC)
University College Dublin (UCD)
Trinity College Dublin (TCD)
University of Galway
Maynooth University

The addition of the new TUS programme marks a significant development for the Midwest region, helping to expand access to accredited training for future social workers. It is expected to play an important role in supporting workforce planning and recruitment within the social work profession in Ireland.

This development enhances access to CORU approved qualifications in the Midwest region and supports national workforce planning by helping to meet the growing demand for qualified social workers.
