Aonghus O'Loughlin
Dr Aonghus O’Loughlin has extensive experience in the delivery of healthcare in Ireland. He works in clinical care provision, service development, education and research and has significant experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary team with podiatrists. He commenced his career in Boston, USA in 1997 and subsequently worked in Galway University Hospital (GUH) and several other Irish hospitals where he held a variety of senior professional positions. He is currently serving as Consultant Physician in Endocrinology, Diabetes Mellitus and General Internal Medicine in Bon Secours Hospital Galway, in addition to serving as Consultant Physician in Endocrinology at Merlin Park University Hospital Galway.
Aonghus has been closely involved in the establishment of an effective diabetes care service and ran a monthly general endocrine clinic out of the diabetes day centre in GUH. In addition, he provided a weekly consultant service in the complex foot clinic in Merlin Park. He is an honorary senior lecturer with National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG). Aonghus has been the recipient of many scholarships and academic awards and has published extensively in professional journals. He has also made numerous oral and poster presentations. His professional qualifications include a PhD Medicine awarded by NUI Galway in 2012.
