Professor John G. Cullen
Professor John Cullen's primary research interests are in the fields of Responsible Management Learning, Sustainable Organisational Development & Change, and Religious Discrimination in Workplaces. He is an Associate Editor of the British Journal of Management and an editorial board member of Human Relations, Academy of Management Learning & Education and the Journal of Management Education. H is most recent book, “Business, Ethics and Society: Key Concepts, Current Debates and Contemporary Innovations” was published by Sage in 2022.
He joined Maynooth University in April 2008 and has served in a number of roles at university, faculty and school level. These include: Interim Dean of Graduate Studies and Head of the Graduate Studies Office (September 2021-September 2023); Associate Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences (October 2018 – February 2023), and; School of Business Director of Undergraduate Teaching & Learning (September 2018-September 2021) and School Director of Postgraduate Teaching & Learning (July 2022 - September 2024). He was promoted to Professor in October 2022. He was deemed elected to Maynooth University's Academic Council on May 1st 2025.
He was a member of both the working and steering groups of the Climate Action & Economic Opportunity project, which was part of Irish Government's Climate Action Regional Offices initiative (August 2020-July 2023). In December 2021, he concluded a two-year term as a member of the British Academy of Management Council, and the BAM Research & Publications Committee. He was Co-Principal Investigator and Maynooth University lead on the 'Sustainability in Enterprise Delivering a Low Carbon Future' HCI Pillar 3 project; a cross-institutional collaboration with University College Cork and ATU Sligo which was awarded nearly €4 million in funding in late 2020.
