About the Dietitians Registration Board
The Minister for Health, James Reilly TD, confirmed on 14 February 2013 the establishment of and appointment of members to the Dietitians Registration Board, under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (amended) to regulate the profession of dietitians.
The Register opened on 31 October 2014, and the title of dietitians/dieticians became officially protected on 31 October 2016.
The Dietitians Registration Board at CORU has statutory responsibility for:
- Establishing and maintaining a Register of members of the profession
- Assessing, approving and monitoring training courses for the health and social care professions under the Act
- Establishing the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics and standards of performance to which dietitians/dieticians must adhere.
The Dietitians Registration Board is the designated Competent Authority and is responsible for recognition of qualifications gained outside the State.
