Registration Board Notice of Election and Request for Nominations

As provided for in the Registration Board Elections byelaws, this is the official notice of the holding of elections on;

· The Medical Scientists Registration Board and request for nominations of candidates

· The Optical Registration Board and request for nominations of candidates

· The Social Care Workers Registration Board and request for nominations of candidates

Vacancies arise in the following Electoral Categories:

Medical Scientists Registration Board

- Category 1: One vacancy for a registrant who is engaged in the practice of the profession

- Category 2: One vacancy for a registrant who is engaged in the management of services provided by the profession

- Category 3: One vacancy for a registrant engaged in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession

Eligible for registered Medical Scientists only, term of office to commence from January 2027

Optical Registration Board

- Category 1: One vacancy for a registrant who is engaged in the practice of the profession of dispensing optician

- Category 2: One vacancy for a registrant who is engaged in the management of services provided by the profession of optometry

- Category 3: One vacancy for a registrant engaged in the education and training of persons in the practice of the profession of optometry

Eligible for registered optometrists and dispensing opticians only, term of office to commence from February 2027

Social Care Workers Registration Board

- Category 1: Two vacancies for a registrant who is engaged in the practice of the profession

- Category 2: Two vacancies for a registrant who is engaged in the management of services provided by the profession

Eligible for registered Social Care Workers only, term of office to commence from March 2027

Information and resources:

Members appointed to the relevant Registration Board will hold office for a term of not more than 4 years as specified by the Minister at the time of appointment.

Nomination Papers must be returned by post before the closing date to: Clare Quille, Returning Officer, CORU, Infinity Building, George’s Court, George’s Lane, Smithfield, Dublin 7, D07 E98Y.

The closing date for receipt of nominations is 12 noon on Friday 11 September 2026.
