Legislation and Applicant Types

There are two routes to registration:

  • Standard Route (Section 38): The primary route to registration and the pathway used by most applicants.
  • Grandparenting Route (Section 91): Available only during the two-year transitional period following the opening of a register, enabling existing practitioners to apply for registration.

Once the transitional period ends, all applicants must apply through the Standard Route (Section 38). The transitional period applies only during the first two years after a register opens.
